چکیده

The objective of this paper is to show how ambiguity, and a decision maker (DM)’s response to it, can be modelled formally in the context of a general decision model. We introduce a relation derived from the DM’s preferences, called ‘‘unambiguous preference’’, and show that it can be represented by a set of probabilities. We provide such set with a simple differential characterization, and argue that it is a behavioral representation of the ‘‘ambiguity’’ that the DM may perceive. Given such revealed ambiguity, we provide a representation of ambiguity attitudes. We also characterize axiomatically a special case of our decision model, the ‘‘a-maxmin’’ expected utility model. r 2003 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. JEL classification: D80; D81

A Gaussian sum filtering approach for phase ambiguity resolution in GPS attitude determination

The problem of phase ambiguity resolution and ltering for interferometric GPS attitude determination is considered. Traditionally, the resolution of the phase ambiguity and the ltering stages were performed separately, with the lter formulated on the basis that the phase ambiguity is correctly resolved. Should the pre-processing stage not resolve the ambiguity correctly, erroneous results may o...

Incomplete Information Games with Smooth Ambiguity Preferences∗

We propose equilibrium notions for incomplete information games involving players who perceive ambiguity about the types of others. Players have smooth ambiguity preferences (Klibanoff, Marinacci and Mukerji, 2005) and may be ambiguity averse. In the smooth ambiguity model it is possible to hold the agents’information fixed while varying the agent’s ambiguity attitude from aversion to neutralit...

The Inertial Attitude Augmentation for Ambiguity Resolution in SF/SE-GNSS Attitude Determination

The Unaided Single Frequency/Single Epoch Global Navigation Satellite System (SF/SE GNSS) model is the most challenging scenario for ambiguity resolution in the GNSS attitude determination application. To improve the performance of SF/SE-GNSS ambiguity resolution without excessive cost, the Micro-Electro-Mechanical System Inertial Measurement Unit (MEMS-IMU) is a proper choice for the auxiliary...

Optimism and Pessimism in Games

This paper considers the impact of ambiguity in strategic situations. It extends the existing literature on games with ambiguity-averse players by allowing for optimistic responses to ambiguity. We use the CEU model of ambiguity with a class of capacities introduced by Jaffray and Philippe (1997), which allows us to distinguish ambiguity from ambiguity-attitude, and propose a new solution conce...
